WHIN was chosen by an independent judging panel for the award and honored April 26, 2024

The Wabash Heartland Innovation Network (WHIN) is proud to announce the completion of its high-speed fixed wireless broadband network in White County, covering more than 90% of the county and reaching underserved homes, farms and businesses. This initiative underscores WHIN’s commitment to bridging the digital divide, accelerating tech adoption, and fostering economic growth through improved connectivity.

The newly completed network, made possible with funding from White County and the U.S. Department of Commerce/Economic Development Administration, will provide area residents, businesses, and industries with fast, reliable internet access, enhancing opportunities for education, telehealth, remote work, and advanced manufacturing. By ensuring robust broadband infrastructure, WHIN is helping to drive innovation and support the evolving needs of the community.

“We’re thrilled to see the WHIN broadband network expand throughout White County, bringing high-speed connectivity to hundreds of homes and businesses.” said Johnny Park, CEO at WHIN. “This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure and creating a more connected, competitive region.”

“The completion of this broadband project represents a wonderful advancement for White County. With fiber options in some parts of the county 2-3 years away, this infrastructure investment will strengthen our local economy, support educational and healthcare needs, and enhance quality of life for our residents," said Randy Strasser, President of White County Economic Development.

The project aligns with WHIN’s mission to establish the Wabash Heartland region as a global leader in digital agriculture and next-generation manufacturing. Through partnerships with local stakeholders, WHIN has successfully implemented cutting-edge connectivity solutions that will serve as a foundation for future technological advancements.

White County residents and businesses can now take full advantage of the enhanced broadband network, enabling seamless communication, greater efficiency, and increased access to digital resources.
